OUR STORY

The Fund's commitment to be a guiding light during the darkest days in a Firefighter and their family's lives has been our priority since 1866.

The Detroit Firemen's Fund Association for the Relief of Disabled Firemen is a Michigan non-profit corporation. It was first incorporated on April 13, 1867, reincorporated on April 13, 1897, making us one of the oldest corporations in Michigan.

We assist injured firefighters with specific needs that may not be met elsewhere. We help ease the burden on a deceased firefighter's family by planning and coordinating components of a traditional Firefighter funeral. Firemen's Fund membership dues, fund raisers thrown by DFFA, donations and sales from our store make this all possible.

With strong ties to the community we serve, in true Detroit Firefighter fashion, the Fund hosts many events during the year to support our community and Firefighters.

The Fund also sponsors groups that continue to stay involved in community service and/or charitable fundraising activities such as Detroit Fire Department Honor Guard, Detroit Fire Department Clown Team, Detroit Fire Department Hockey Team and the Michigan Fallen Firefighters Memorial Rig.
