The Detroit Fire Department Hockey Team
participates in league play and charity tournaments
in both the United States and Canada.
About the Team
Our premier charity event is the WINTER CLASSIC, where the Detroit Fire Department Hockey Team takes on Detroit Police Department Team. Like the NFL Winter Classic, the event takes place at an outside arena. It’s big fun, but more importantly, it raises funds to help maintain Detroit’s Clark Park Youth Hockey League.

Once again the Detroit Fire Department Hockey team looks forward to playing in our premier charity tournament, the 6th Annual WINTER CLASSIC. Detroit Fire faces off against the Detroit Police Department in a classic outdoor rink game. The event is held at Detroit’s Clark Park with proceeds benefitting the Clark Park Youth Hockey League. Date and time of this and other events will be posted as they become available.
The Detroit Fire Department Hockey Team was organized in 1960. The team started out in the Detroit Industrial League. Throughout the decades the team changed leagues for various reasons. We currently compete in the South Eastern Michigan Police League. In addition to league play the team has been active in numerous charity tournaments in the United States and Canada, helping to raise funds for a variety of causes.
